Halloween Hand Pies in Four Awesome Flavors

Finally, we have a yummy apple-caramel Mummy pie. This recipe uses a tin of Nestle ready prepared caramel but if you can’t get that, you can also melt some caramel candies in the microwave to use instead.

This recipe uses the exact same method but pairs caramel with some fresh apple. You could also add some cinnamon or brown sugar to this recipe. Remember to seal the edges so that the caramel doesn’t leak out.

Apple Caramel Mummy Halloween Hand Pies

  • 1 packet ready-made puff pastry
  • 1/4 apple
  • 2 tbsp tinned caramel
  1. Roll out the pastry into a rectangle, cut in half across the middle widthways to make tops and bottoms for the pies. Then divide into 5 (or as many pieces as you want) lengthways. My pastry was 350mm wide, so I made 5 pies 70mm wide each.
  2. Cut the bottom section of pastry into slices to form the Mummy bandages. Using a pizza cutter for this is easiest but you can just use a knife also.
  3. Spread 1 tbsp of the caramel in the middle of each pizza pie you’re making. Leave space at the sides to stick the bandages down.
  4. Scatter the chopped apple evenly across the apple. Top with the other tablespoon of caramel
  5. Layer the slices of pastry to form bandages across the Mummy pie. Leave a gap near the top for the Mummy’s eyes.
  6. Press down lightly at the edges so seal the pastry, brush with beaten egg.
  7. Bake on a tray at 390C/200F for 15 minutes until golden. Cool for a couple of minutes before placing the candy eyes.
