Halloween Hand Pies in Four Awesome Flavors

Next up, we have the first sweet version, a super-healthy, sugar-free recipe that is naturally sweetened with banana and honey with a dash of cinnamon.

Banana, cinnamon and honey Halloween pie

Our tip with this recipe is to slice the banana thinly; it’s better to have more small slices than a few thick chunks of banana.  Also, be sure to seal the edges well and bake these fairly quickly after assembling so that the honey doesn’t leak from the edges.

With this recipe, you still leave a small gap for the candy eyes, which you’ll add after baking.

Banana, Honey and Cinnamon Halloween Hand Pies

Sugar-free puff pastry pies

  • 1 packet ready-made puff pastry
  • 1/2 small banana
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 drizzle honey
  • 2 candy eyes
  1. Roll out the pastry into a rectangle, cut in half across the middle widthways to make tops and bottoms for the pies. Then divide into 5 (or as many pieces as you want) lengthways. My pastry was 350mm wide, so I made 5 pies 70mm wide each.
  2. Cut the bottom section of pastry into slices to form the Mummy bandages. Using a pizza cutter for this is easiest but you can just use a knife also.
  3. Lay the banana slices down the middle, scatter the cinnamon and drizzle the honey
  4. Layer the slices of pastry to form bandages across the Mummy pie. Leave a gap near the top for the Mummy’s eyes.
  5. Press down lightly at the edges so seal the pastry, brush with beaten egg.
  6. Bake on a tray at 390C/200F for 15 minutes until golden. Cool for a couple of minutes before placing the candy eyes.
