Next up we have the super-easy pizza Mummy pies. Mark and cut the pastry in the same way as the previous recipe. The tomato sauce for these is just tomato paste with some added herbs. These taste amazing hot or cold.
We’ve stuck to cheese, tomato, and olive but you can add any other flavors you want.
Remember to leave a gap at the edges where you’ll press and seal the bandage edges to stick them to the pastry.
Mummy Pizza Pies Flavor
Savory Puff Pastry Halloween Pie
- 1 packet ready-made puff pastry
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/4 tsp garlic granules
- 1/4 tsp onion granules
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1-2 olives, sliced
- Roll out the pastry into a rectangle, cut in half across the middle widthways to make tops and bottoms for the pies. Then divide into 5 (or as many pieces as you want) lengthways. My pastry was 350mm wide, so I made 5 pies 70mm wide each.
- Cut the bottom section of pastry into slices to form the Mummy bandages. Using a pizza cutter for this is easiest but you can just use a knife also.
- Spread 1 tbsp of tomato paste in the middle of each pizza pie you’re making. Leave space at the sides to stick the bandages down.
- Scatter the oregano, the garlic granules and the onion granules evenly across the tomato paste. Season with salt and pepper.
- Spread the mozzarella cheese and olives across the tomato paste, add any other toppings.
- Layer the slices of pastry to form bandages across the Mummy pie. Leave a gap near the top and place 2 olive slices in them for the Mummy’s eyes.
- Press down lightly at the edges so seal the pastry, brush with beaten egg if you wish.
- Bake on a tray at 390C/200F for 15 minutes until golden.
