- The Santa Clause
You can imagine that the studio execs came up with this movie’s title before the plot, it sounds so made-for-marketing.But we still get a kick out of seeing Tim Allen as a divorced dad who morphs into every kid’s holly-jolly hero.
- Jingle All the Way
Getting caught up in materialism and forgetting the true meaning of Christmas is a theme that’s repeated in holiday movies time and time again.Watching Arnie brawling his way through anything that stands between him and a Turbo-Man doll however, has got to be the most fun it’s ever been.
- The Muppet Christmas Carol
Michael Caine, playing his role as the Christmas-hating miser so seriously, whilst the Muppets run rings around him never gets tired.Plus, the catchy songs will be in your heard for days afterwards!
- National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation
Although everyone starts out with good intentions, the best-laid plans often go awry and family disagreements are basically the norm for the holidays.Maybe that’s why no list of cheesy Christmas movies would be complete without a visit with the Griswalds – everyone’s favorite dysfunctional, accident-prone family.
- Santa Claus The Movie
This movie gets bonus points for delving into a Santa Claus origins story, and Dudley Moore as his ambitious helper Patch had to be at least part of the inspiration for Will Ferrell’s Elf.It’s the cynical street urchin and rich-girl’s friendship that makes this one cheesier than a pot of Swiss fondue though!
