The best part is that these tips use ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen.
To cook your frozen pizza like a pro, put it straight onto the oven shelf, (unless you’re using a pizza stone), so air can circulate to the base, and use the hottest oven possible.
Then, while the party’s going on in your mouth, you can think of what to do with the money you’ve saved vs ordering takeout!
- Add fresh garlic
Garlic makes everything better – that’s a fact! Scatter a super thinly-sliced clove of garlic amongst the toppings for better flavor. - Use olive oil
Drizzle a thin stream of olive oil all over, just before you put the pizza into the oven and the cheese will come out bubbly and golden. - Increase the cheese
Try putting on some more mozzarella (use the good quality kind if you have it), and sprinkle parmesan on top. - Make a homemade crust dip
- Add tomato
Add thinly sliced fresh tomatoes, or cherry tomatoes cut in half, seasoned with a generous amount of black pepper. - Give the crust a garlic hit
Brush the crusts with soft garlic butter when you take it out of the oven. Or failing that, cut a garlic clove in half and rub over the crusts before cooking. - Think out of the box with leftovers
You might need to rearrange the toppings so the cheese doesn’t cover them.
Once cooked, you can also put the pizza under a broiler for a minute or two, until the cheese has those yummy bubbly, golden patches. If your mozzarella comes packed in water, dry it off first with a kitchen towel so it doesn’t soak the pizza base.
A sprinkling of good quality parmesan before putting into the oven will also level up the cheese factor.

Or try our own delicious version which you can make in a flash: mix 1/2 cup of sour cream with 1/2 cup of mayonnaise, and add 1/2 tsp of garlic granules, 1/2 tsp of onion granules, plus a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper and a 1/4tsp of oregano.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly and season with salt and pepper. For a less strong flavor, start with a 1/4 tsp of the onion and garlic, and omit the cayenne pepper.
Raid the fridge for leftovers like roast chicken, meatballs, or grilled vegetables like eggplant.
