16 Pain Free Tips That Will Help You Get Up Earlier

  1. Get out of bed as soon as you’re awake
    Don’t overthink getting up, or give yourself a chance to talk yourself out of it by rationalizing why you need more sleep, just get out of bed as soon as you can.
  2. Open the blinds to help you wake up faster
    Sunrise is the most beautiful time of day and natural daylight is also great for helping you to feel energized and awake, so as soon as the sun starts coming up, open the blinds to help you feel refreshed and ready.
  3. Keep your motivation in the front of your mind
    If you’re just getting up early for the sake of it, with no defined reason in place, it’ll be a breeze to hit the snooze button and just drift back to sleep. So if you want to start a habit of getting up early, decide what you’ll spend your time on and keep the reasons in the front of your mind to increase your motivation.
  4. Use your early start for something positive
    Early mornings are a key time to smash your to-do list, but when building the early-rising habit, use them to do something good for yourself.

    Try exercising, yoga, reading, or another activity that you enjoy.

    Don’t use the time to do things like trudge through bills or try to accomplish difficult tasks – at least at first. – Once you have the habit of getting up early nailed, you can start looking at getting through those types of activities if you want.

  5. Use your early morning schedule to find some me-time
    Finding something you want to get out of bed for every day, that makes a difference to you is key. Use it to find a new hobby, read or improve your life in a tangible way and you will soon love getting out of bed early.
  6. Hydrate
    A lot of people like to make coffee when they wake up but make sure to also gulp down a big glass of water. Most people wake up dehydrated, so this will be a welcome energy boost until the caffeine kicks in.

  7. Be consistent in your early morning schedule
    Getting up early just once a week won’t cut it in terms of forming a consistent habit. For the best chance of success, make it an everyday occurrence and only let yourself sleep in once in a while. Once you start, you’ll love the early morning times so much that it’ll be no hardship.

    Although I still love my lay-ins and it’s not always easy, getting up early is helping me get so much more done. For me, it takes a range of tactics to make sure I’m up with the larks, but it feels so good when I do.
